We will look at your baby's unique sleep needs, so they get the best sleep they can and you both enjoy maternity leave and enjoy family life well rested, together.


Hi I'm Laura. I am a baby sleep training consultant in Derbyshire. I live with my partner and our young son and we have known sleep deprivation and come out of the other side!

I spent my maternity leave as a first time mum in lockdown. After 10 years of trying to start a family and then IVF we had our miracle baby and whilst we were over the moon and loved him more than anything, we were struggling with broken sleep, feeling anxious, not knowing the right thing to do when our son would wake up repeatedly every night. Sometimes within an hour of finally getting him down to sleep.

I would have no time in the evenings to just sit down and relax with my partner and I wasn't getting a break in the day due to my son only contact napping. I was touched out, exhausted and struggling to heal after labour, I felt broken. I had no where to turn to for support and so I decided to study to become a paediatric sleep consultant. From there I helped people who were in the same situation we were in and fell in love with everything related to sleep and health.

Most nights he would wake every-single-hour. The world was living through a global pandemic and we just wanted our family to be as healthy as possible and I knew that meant we all needed our sleep! Gradual, responsive sleep training saved our nights, helped us all get the sleep we needed and kept us healthy and thriving. I moved feeds earlier before his bedtime, gradually moved from feeding him to sleep each time he woke to offering other forms of comfort and observed when he was tired for naps rather than using generic wake windows on different apps. His silent reflux got better and he started to sleep for much longer periods of time.

Maternity leave isn't a holiday.... as a new mum you are providing care for your new baby, adapting to life as a new family and (just as importantly) recovering from labour.

Throw in sleep deprivation and it can feel so lonely.

My approach to achieving more sleep

We all wake in the night. Sometimes the wake up is so brief we don't even remember it.

As parents it isn't our job to stop our child from waking, they can easily wake at the end of a sleep cycle, but what we can do is support them to learn how to easily Fall asleep again should they wake up too soon. Reducing the need to Put them to sleep each time.

I specialise in supporting babies aged 4-14 months to Fall asleep (self settle) rather than have to be Put to sleep, using a gradual and responsive approach over 2-3 weeks. I use an approach known as Comfort through Change.

You will be next to your baby for the first 3-7 nights and gradually do less, allowing your baby to do more and feel comfortable. Many families see positive results within the first week.

I design a sleep routine tailored to YOUR family, created to fit YOUR baby's individual sleep needs, rather than a generic "one size fits all" style of support, taking into consideration development and lifestyle schedules.

When I help families my support is personalised around real information on their baby's sleep, based on my comprehensive online sleep questionnaire to understand your family's current situation and challenges, and the data you provide via an easy to use sleep app to log your baby's sleep and feeding schedule.

This combined information then allows me best help you and your unique baby.

  • Your own written sleep plan collating all the guidance together for you to keep and refer to as we sleep train and for future reference.

  • Up to 21 days of daily support (9am-9pm) 7 days a week via Whatsapp/text/voicenotes to help you implement your plan from night 1.

    You can pause and bank your support should you need to for up to 2 weeks eg illness. You will also recieve my free resource on diet (foods that optimise sleep), reflux and CMPA and when and how to drop a nap.

CONNECTION, CONSISTENCY AND CUSTOMISING SUPPORT

When your child is given the chance to be autonomous with you by their side they build on new skills.

When your baby can Fall asleep rather you Putting them to sleep should they wake up between sleep cycles (which begin around 4 months also known as the 4 month regression )they can go back to sleep without depending on sleep associations such as; rocking, feeding, contact naps, co-sleeping or using a dummy.

You can provide their nutritional needs AND teach them to self settle to sleep after the feed through the night. You do not have to stop breastfeeding.

I will help you to set up small routines to help your baby expect sleep and look at your baby's 24 hour sleep tank, so we are giving them enough opportunities to sleep at the right time, allowing their sleep pressure to be at the right level for them. This leads to lovely longer stretches of sleep overnight. Meaning you can rest easy (literally!) knowing you are meeting your child's needs.

We reached out to Laura after 15 months of no sleep. We were at breaking point. Our little one was waking up 8,9,10 times a night and was in our bed with us, the only way of resettling was to breastfeed back to sleep, but then an hour later we’d be up again. we were running on empty.

We had a very thorough phone call with Laura to assess our sleep routine and then she went away and put a plan together for us. Once we started the plan, we noticed an improvement with bedtime very quickly. And the night wakes pretty much halved. We definitely had a rocky week, which Laura had mentioned we probably would have. But once we pushed through that, we started getting bigger chunks of sleep.

After about 8 days we were getting some 5 hour chunks of sleep with maybe only 2 or 3 wakes, which seemed like a dream scenario a few months back! Then 6hrs, then 7,8,9 and now we have just had 6 nights in a row of 10-11 hour sleeps with no wakes in little one’s own room in the cot! We never thought we’d get there. Laura is absolutely brilliant at what she does, she was so supportive with texts/voice notes checking up on us very regularly and always replied so quickly to any of our messages. I have to say, I was a bit sceptical at first and during those first few nights, both my partner and I felt that maybe our little one was just destined not to sleep. Cancellation & Refund Policy:

Once you have completed the consultation you will not be refunded. If you cancel 24 hours prior to the consultation you will be fully refunded. Within 24 hours of the consultation you will be refunded 50% of your sleep package price. If I have to terminate our contract, I will refund the remaining days of unused support.
